The accessible parking requirements

Accessible spaces are a legal requirement rather than a courtesy, and the details matter — the number of spaces relative to lot size, access aisle width, van-accessible provision, signage height and the condition of the markings themselves.

Access aisles must remain clearly marked and unobstructed.
Signage must be present, correct and at the required height.

Getting it right

A restripe is also the natural moment to reconsider the layout. Traffic flow, stall count, drive-aisle width, loading zones and pedestrian routes are all easier to change when the lines are coming off anyway. If the lot has never worked well, this is the cheap opportunity to fix it.

And do it after any resurfacing rather than before — fresh asphalt needs to cure before paint will hold properly.
